Moscow hosts 13th Meeting of the SCO Youth Council

The 13th Meeting of the SCO Youth Council took place in Moscow on 30 October as part of the Russian chairmanship of the SCO in 2019-2020. It was attended by representatives of the national sections of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and employees of the SCO Youth Council partner organisation – the Belarusian Republican Youth Union.

Chairman of the SCO Youth Council Denis Kravchenko, the Russian President’s Special Representative for the SCO Bakhtiyer Khakimov and SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov delivered opening remarks at the meeting.

 Denis Kravchenko summed up the results of the Russian national section’s chairmanship in the SCO Youth Council, laying emphasis on the development of the volunteer movement. He informed the audience about Russia’s state support measures for businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 Deputy Director of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Andrei Platonov described the results of the #WeAreTogether nationwide campaign of mutual support.

The participants devoted primary attention to the prospects of developing the volunteer movement across the SCO space, support measures for businesses and entrepreneurs, and the exchange of experience in developing new education programmes, in particular, during the pandemic.

The main result of the meeting was the entry of the Indian national section into the SCO Youth Council.

The Youth Council will hold its next meeting in Tajikistan.
