SCO healthcare experts discuss COVID–19

On 8 July, a second videoconference of healthcare experts was held within the framework of Russia’s Chairmanship of the SCO in 2019-2020. The event was attended by experts from India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

They focused on the current situation in the member states’ healthcare systems, primarily in light of the preparations for a potential second wave of COVID-19 infections. They also continued working on a combined survey of the best practices in the SCO countries to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.

The experts also discussed the preparations for the upcoming meeting of health ministers of the SCO member states, scheduled to take place during the last 10 days of July, as well as a draft final statement the ministers will adopt.
