Experts from SCO member states discuss export strategy

On 7 July, on the sidelines of the INNOPROM Online forum that took place via video conference, representatives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states gathered for a roundtable on the SCO countries’ export strategy. The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation as part of Russia’s SCO Presidency in 2019 ̶ 2020.

The roundtable was attended by around 80 experts from competent ministries and agencies of the SCO member states responsible for export development, implementation of standards, as well as international trade and economic links. SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sherali Saidamir Jonon was also among the participants. Among those present were officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry of India, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry, and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Industries and Production of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Those taking part in the gathering specifically focused on the prospects of trade and economic cooperation between the SCO member states. They discussed state support measures for exporters, prospects of multilateral cooperation concerning technical regulation and standardisation, as well as joint development of e-commerce platforms across the SCO.
