On 11-14 February 2020, Moscow was the venue under Russia’s chairmanship of a regular meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Those present continued to prepare the documents to be signed at the SCO summit due to be held in St Petersburg this July. They also considered issues regarding the holding of the Meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils (Moscow, April 2020), Conference of Ministers of Defence (Moscow, May 2020), and the SCO Heads of Government Council Meeting (India, November 2020). They discussed in detail SCO industry-specific matters, including in the field of transport, agriculture, education, tourism, and also region-to-region cooperation.
A motivated exchange of views was held on how to promote the SCO’s international contacts and how to upgrade the performance of its standing bodies.
A more than130-point SCO Plan of Main Events for 2020 was approved that addresses all aspects of versatile collaboration within the SCO.
A joint statement on the coronavirus epidemic was agreed upon, which confirms the commitment to joint efforts and mutual support in emergency situations.
