On 16 December, Moscow will host the sixth Meeting of the Heads of the SCO Member States Services in Charge of Ensuring Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing. The plenary session will be opened by Anna Popova, Head of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) and Chief State Sanitary Doctor.
Meetings in this format have traditionally been held in Russia since 2008 and have become a regular mechanism for cooperation between the related SCO agencies that counter the threats of infection and epidemics.
The meeting will be attended by the heads and authorised representatives of specialised agencies and scientific institutions from the SCO member states and the SCO Secretariat. Specialists will discuss current issues related to maintaining biological security and sanitary and epidemiological wellbeing in the SCO space, as well as current cooperation and prospective areas for cooperation in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and ensuring biological security.
